The Yawanawa is a people linked with many kinds of spiritual animals. One of them is
jaguar. We all feel connected with jaguar because he’s part of our family. And we say
when he comes in the jungle, I owe him my respect. He brings us the medicine; he
brings us health. Also they know where the Yawanawa live; they never attack us. And
also we know the place where they live; we never go in there. But when jaguar appears
in the community, he’s come to say to the Yawanawa there, we have some kind of
enemy, we need to be careful about it, we need to prepare because we can have some
kind of attack. And he’s come as a messenger. He’s come to advise us.
